SPECIAL AVALANCHE BULLETIN
APRIL 3RD THROUGH SUNDAY APRIL 5TH
A SPECIAL AVALANCHE BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR TURNAGAIN PASS, PORTAGE VALLEY, GIRDWOOD VALLEY AND SURROUNDING ZONES.
SPRINGTIME WEATHER AND AN UNSTABLE SNOWPACK WILL LEAD TO DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS IN THE BACKCOUNTRY THIS WEEKEND. LARGE HUMAN TRIGGERED AVALANCHES ARE POSSIBLE ON STEEP, SHADY SLOPES WITH A NORTHERLY ASPECT. NATURAL AND HUMAN TRIGGERED AVALANCHES ARE POSSIBLE ON SOUTHERLY SLOPES IN THE AFTERNOONS WITH DAYTIME HEATING AND INTENSE SUNSHINE.
TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMNEDED WITHOUT PROPER AVALANCHE TRAINING AND RESCUE GEAR. CAUTIOUS ROUTE-FINDING AND CONSERVATIVE DECISION-MAKING ARE ESSENTIAL. THIS AVALANCHE BULLETIN IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY APRIL 3RD THROUGH MIDNIGHT SUNDAY APRIL 5TH, 2015. THIS IS A BACKCOUNTRY BULLETIN AND DOES NOT INCLUDE SKI AREAS, HIGHWAYS, OR RAILROADS.
