Weather & Snow Characteristics

Sunny with a SE wind down the valley. Plumes observed on one peak above 3,500 and seemed to subside in the afternoon.

Snow surface

Surface hoar forming to treeline but not found higher. Variable surface due to winds, either soft or windslab. Older roller balls and a few point releases on a SW aspect below 2,500.


Pit @ 2,500: North aspect, 15 degree slope, pit depth 105cm, height of snow over 300cm. CTV failed 50 cm down on a 2 cm 4finger density change from otherwise finger hard snow. ECTX. BSH not found and couldn't tell if basal facets existed.
