Observation: Turnagain

Location: Turnagain Pass

Route & General Observations

There has been more recent glide activity over the last 2 days. The exact timing of when these glide
avalanches occurred is unknown, but there is some new snow coverage on one of them. The other two look
a little fresher and were probably within the last 24 hours.

Snow coverage along the road is melting fast, but Tincan still has 8″ on the ground and you can still skin
from the parking area. Further south its a bit of a hike to get to snowline (≈1400′ at Sunburst.)

There was a few inches of new wet snow at higher elevation above 2500′. Notice the snowballs running on
Pete’s North. The coverage up high is still quite good and not much snow is melting above 2500′. On
Tincan at 2300′ there was still 3.5′ of snow on average.

Conditions were very springlike with wet corn snow below 2500′
