Observation: Turnagain
Location: Turnagain Pass Road Obs
Drove through Turnagain Pass between 5 – 6pm. No new activity was seen and chatted with a few groups and no obvious signs of instability were observed. The melt/freeze crust along the road level was soft and insupportable to boots. Several riders reported punching through the crust with their sleds starting around 3pm. Instability showers and patches of sun and clouds were reported all day.

Temps along the road were 39F at sea level and 36F along Turnagain Pass.
Valley winds from the East were averaging around 10mph
Snow surface
Soft and insupportable for boots, posthole up to thighs
Skis and snow machines were able to stay on the surface, but punched through in places
Roller balls and crown on Tincan were both observed yesterday in same zones
Partially filled in crown on NW shoulder of Sunburst. I dug a pit just above this crown and found the March 27th buried surface hoar to be the culprit.
Not a lot of traffic on Skier slide of the road. The most common place was SW rolls of Sunburst.
Kickstep with a storm slab on SW face
The top of the uptrack on Seattle Ridge was obscured by clouds and light snow showers
Lynx zone was also pretty obscured
Corn Biscuit W face - an area that did not slide, but surface hoar was observed on this slope prior to the storm.
