Observation: Turnagain
Location: Turnagain Pass Road obs
Drove through Turnagain Pass to look for recent avalanche activity and see how much snow fell overnight. We drove through around 1pm and then to Summit and returned around 3pm. Visibility was in/out and not as good as in Summit Lake. We saw several D2 storm slab crowns from mid to late storm on Seattle Ridge E face. Most of the gullies had new debris, subtle texture from low density snow. Lots of large point releases on all aspects.

All of the avalanche activity was recent storm snow avalanches (soft slabs and loose snow point releases.) We didn't see any crowns in Turnagain Pass that appeared to step down into older snow.

Measured the snow depth in the Center Ridge parking lot, 120cm (47") to the pavement. Snow totals were challenging to gauge due to plowed berms and very few options to pull over. Berms seemed to be pretty consistent through the whole pass. We spoke with a few snowmachiners who tried to put a trail in Johnson without much luck. They said they were stuck most of the day and thought there was 4' of new snow in that zone.
