Road Observations on Turnagain Pass
Weather:
Temperature 39deg at the Pass with light rain. Gusty variable wind with overcast skies.
Recent Avalanches:
Widespread natural avalanche activity. Below are a few more photos to add to the growing collection. Activity has been occurring during the past 4 days, beginning Friday. The height of activity looks to have been Saturday and Sunday. Glide and wet slab avalanches and wet loose avalanches were noted. These were at elevations generally between 2,000′ to 3,000′ and on all aspects. Visibility was limited to see up into the alpine terrain.
Signs of Instability:
Recent avalanches (as stated above).
Continued rain on snow and warm temperatures.
Snowpack…
is dwindling with the rain below 3000′.
