Observation: Turnagain

Location: Tincan Trees

Route & General Observations

Planned to ski Eddie’s trees but Tincan’s short approach and slightly higher elevation beckoned amidst the wet lower conditions.
Apparent snowline was right around 1000′ as evident by dusting on trees.
Stayed within the trees for visibility for a couple laps.
Fun creamy turns.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.

Wet conditions on the drive out.
a few sucker-holes in the morning but otherwise overcast skies.
Warm temps but evidently below freezing once gaining some elevation.
Light/moderate winds in exposed areas from NNEish.
Lightly snowing on/off throughout the day.

Snow surface

A few inches new wet snow in lower elevations, increasing in depth and drying out with elevation gain.

Handpit on Hamburger hill failed with moderate force ~20cm down on Mf crust. Ski pole probing implied the MF crust disappeared just after gaining some elevation. No formal tests.
