Location: Tincan to 3400'
Normal Tincan route to Common Bowl
Good visibility to see recent avalanche activity from the Jan.27-28 storm. Seattle Ridge had a large D3 wet avalanche on the East Face just South of the motorized lot and several gullies had new debris. Todd’s Bowl, CFR, Eddies, Wolverine, Library, Tincan, Elevator Shaft- D2 wind slabs that released mid to late storm. Could also see debris on the SW aspect in Peterson Creek. Many new glide avalanche on Seattle Ridge, Eddies -NE & SW face, Wolverine, Cornbiscuit and Skookum. See Glide obs from Jan.29th for photos.

1000-1550' - Crust was forming throughout the day with clear skies and cooler temps. At 1000' the crust was breakable in the morning, but by 4pm was almost fully supportable. Crust becomes thin by 1400' and eventually disappears by 1550'
Above 1550' - 12" to 20" new snow as you gain elevation
Snowpack
We observed a settling snowpack with good stability. As temps were cooling throughout the day a crust was forming on the surface below 1500'. New storm snow appears to be bonding well. We ski cut and stomped on some test slopes along the ridge above common bowl and could not get any snow to move and no shooting cracks.
Dug a quick pit at 2200' - Height of snow was deeper than 3 meter probe. Found 14" of new snow sitting on 6" of moist snow. All new snow was Fist Hard and was sitting a right-side-up snowpack below. Test results: CTN
Seattle East Face, S. of motorized lot. D3 wet avalanche that observed Jan.28th, likely occurred mid to late storm
Crust was forming between 1000-1500' and was becoming supportable at lower elevations by late afternoon
Several crowns were observed in Todd's Bowl - likely occurred near the end of the Jan.27-28 storm.
It was interesting to see rain runnels visible under 12" dry new snow
No obvious signs of instability were observed doing test cuts near the top of Common Bowl
Looking at large glide cracks on Tincan's SW slope ~2700'
Very large glide crack on Tincan, SW aspect, some cracks as pictured above, but photo taken from road
Pit at 2200' on a West aspect of Tincan. Snowpack was right side up and very stable in this pit. 14" new on 6" of wet snow.
