Wednesday’s storm dumped a foot of snow with light wind effect above tree line. The surface was very soft but there was a punchy layer 8” down that signaled propagation was possible.

Avalanche Details

I skied a south-facing slope descending from the Tin Can up-track and triggered a soft slab on a steep convexity. It propagated widely and traveled slowly, failing on the pre-existing melt freeze crust like the forecast predicted. Nobody was carried by the slide.
