~ Road - 1150': Small surface crust over, loss of surface crust at 1150'. Got covered throughout the day.
~ 1300': 2" of soft new snow on top of two thin MF crusts with near surface facets in between the two MF crusts
~ 1500': Loss of upper MF crust, total of 8" of soft on top of a firm supportable crust
~ 2080': 5" soft new snow, lost of second supportable crust, about 12" soft total on top of a firmer density step.
~ 2600': In wind scoured areas, no new precip on top of a thin firm film. Smaller than 1cm crust.
We did various hand pits at different elevations, primarily soft unconsolidated snow and different density facets within the upper 25cm of the snowpack. No obvious hand shears.
Dug two pits one at 2200' and one in a scoured 2500' area above tree line. Within the pit we were able to identify multiple buried surface hoar layers, and large depth hoar on the ground. We got repeatable collapse on a BSH layer 45cm down, and collapse at the ground - but no propagation.
