Observation: Hatcher Pass
Location: Sunnyside, Hatch Peak
Up the eastern end of Hatch Peak ridgeline from the Fishhook Lot, along ridge to Sunnyside (Southeast aspect ski runs), and back to Fishhook lot.
Obvious signs of instability
Observer Comments
Small, natural dry loose avalanches overnight.
One human triggered, small, dry loose avalanche on the upper SW face of Marmot, adjacent and to the south of the Lodge Run.
Small cracks in the top fist hard, 2" of new snow from last night, sitting on 1-2 mm surface hoar.
Small, localized cracking failing below a very thin crust sitting over 10-20 cm of 4 finger to fist hard NSFs, 5" below surface.
Both of these layers should be watched closely for potential future weak layers.

Snowpack
Some issues with SH and NSFs near the top 25 cm of the snowpack.
This will only be a problem if winds transport snow or we get a significant dump of new snow.
Deeper in the snowpack...
In our pit today on Sunnyside of Hatch Peak, SE, 3600', we observed a right side up snowpack with no layers of concern (other than the surface issue already mentioned above), and no propagation in tests. This is consistent with previous observations we have made over the last two weeks.
