Route & General Observations

Standard route up Sunburst to ~3700′
Descended a skier’s right variation of the “Elevator Shaft” on the North face.
Traversed and ascended back up to top of alders, then back to parking lot.
Small sluffs in steep terrain.
Got some photos of Seattle Ridge glides
Observed dirty debris piles on Tincan’s south face & the Library

Weather

Overcast skies in the morning then breaking up around 12:30, letting some sun through, leaving fairly good vis for rest of the day.
Moderate temps
Calm to light SE Winds
Trace amount of snow falling throughout the day.

Snow surface

Surface Hoar observed in narrow elevation band around 1100'
A few inches of recycled powder in low angle terrain/ non solar aspects.
Breakable to stout & supportable Sun/wind crust combo dependent on specific solar angle.
Trace amount of what seemed to be mostly Rimed Stellar crystals. Will this affect future new snow bonding to the hard surfaces?
Observed small unsupported sections of wind packed snow sliding off faceted snow in an isolated area near the exit of the couloir.
