Route & General Observations

Toured from PL at end of road at IMSP up into Ray Wallace Bowl and midway up the S. face of Microdot to 4167ft. Skiers making runs on steep slopes of Eldorado Bowl.

None observed other than remnants of pre-wind event avalanche crowns on Skyscrapper Mtn N. of Eldorado Bowl.

Weather & Snow Characteristics

Weather

A mild day in the high country. Partly cloudy and calm with 28F at miday. At same time 13F in Wasilla area. Looks like we have an inversion going on here with warmer air overlying the cold.

Snow surface

At 3100 ft in valley bottom mostly loose snow. Above 3300ft wind affect apparent (pic). Thin wind crust mixed with wind rippled snow on S. flank of Microdot. Ski tracks from last 24-48hrs mostly filled in by transported snow from recent wind event.

Snowpack

Did pit on SW aspect of Microdot at 3733ft. Total snowpack = 74cm. Upper layers of F to 4F snow overlying M/F crust with facets above and below. Got CT22Q3 breaking to ground on basal facet layer. Got ECTN same site. See attached profile.
