Sunburst parking lot to Magnum ridge via Iditarod trail south, some alder bashing up the SW shoulder, to meet the common up-track in the PMS bowl. One nice ski lap in the bowl, then climbed out of the bowl to exit out the NW shoulder near the common up-track

While descending near the common up-track on the NW shoulder, our party of three stopped above the highest prominent rock ban to asses our next move. There were ski tracks on both sides of a wind feature/steep rollover, so I moved across the top of it towards the up-track to asses, discovering two people climbing. I turned around to talk to my partners and to get a better look at the other side, where three people had already skied. While moving back across, the snow fractured under my feet and propagated downslope and away from me in both directions and ran approx. 400 ft. The crown face at my feet was approx 10-12 inches, and up to approx 3 feet further downslope amongst the exposed rock band. My partners heard a whoomph, but mostly only saw the runout. No one was caught or harmed.
Clear and Cold (below zero), light winds
