This avalanche looks like it failed on the facets on sun crust/drizzle crust layer which has been the culprit in most avalanches this week.
Touchy snow pack… particularly the west facing aspects. 98% of old tracks covered.

One sledder trying to get up on the shelf above the valley floor — we had suspicion the face would release & sure enough it did. Rider was well aware & rode out. Did not run to valley floor.
Note the photo isn’t from the slide, but a separate. Unfortunately I didn’t snap a picture of the bigger release.
