Route & General Observations

Rae-Wallace Bowl from Independence Bowl Parking Lot to south aspect of SW Ridge of Microdot Peak. Poor visibility to the extent that we used glacier wands to mark our route. Glad we did!

Thin ovcst with poor visibility turning into pea-soup around 3:00 p.m., calm wind, temperature=13.5F, 12" of new snow, precipitation < 1" per hour.

New snow from last 48 hours, approx. 12".


See attached pit profile. Bottom line, failures on basal facets and icy crusts at depth of 30-40 cm.
