Observation: Turnagain

Location: Magnum, Sunburst

Route & General Observations

Photos of skier triggered slides on the SW shoulder of Sunburst Ridge.
The smaller pocket on the left is reported in a observation from this same day
The larger slide to its right is large enough that it could do some damage if

The second photo is a natural avalanche off the SW face of Sunburst Ridge.
Likely triggered by wind loading Wednesday 12/11 night.

The last photo is a pit dug on the NW shoulder of Magnum showing the wind slab
sitting on the weak Nov facets that is causing all the recent avalanches. Pit
results were ECTV and ECTP 12 sudden planar – which means this is a very heads
up snowpack and slabs can still be triggered by people.

One very large collapse was felt on the NW shoulder of Magnum.
