Toured up the NW shoulder of Magnum ridge to look at upper elevation wind loaded Northerly aspects that have not avalanched.

Sunny with significant inversion, 30F at 3,300' and 3F in the parking lot. Winds calm.
Wind effected - scoured, hard wind slab, wind crust.
Snowpit: Northerly aspect, ~30 deg and unsupported slope. This pocket was loaded by the winds from Dec 29 and Jan 5th. It is one of the areas we are concerned about for still being able to trigger a persistent slab avalanche. Total depth 75-115cm, ECTN 11RP 20cm down on stellars, ECTN 27 RP 45cm down small facets. See video.
Bottom line in the snowpack here: Poor structure, high strength and low propagation potential. The weak layer(s) exist, but the slab is so stiff it does not want to propagate a fracture - human triggering is unlikely.
