Route & General Observations

Up the road side face of Magnum via the common skin track from Sunburst. Skied southerly to northwesterly aspects off the Magnum ridge. Plentiful surface hoar was found from the parking lot to the top of the ridge. No obvious signs of instability were found aside from minor sloughing and no new avalanches were observed (i.e. none which haven’t already been reported and nothing occurring during the tour).

Calm and sunny conditions with valley fog.

Snow surface

Generally settled powder. Isolated pockets appeared to be wind effected, but were non-responsive. Surface hoar was ubiquitous up to the top of the ridge line (3,500').
