parked at johnson pass trailhead. followed snow machine track into lynx creek and explored one of the drainages on the east side of the creek.

cold and clear morning.
inverted. below zero at the truck, teens at elevation.
broken to overcast skies.
light winds.
light afternoon snow.

Snow surface

surface hoar of varying sizes observed from creek bottom to top of tour at 3600 ft. good ski quality above 1500’.

Snowpack

Dug into the snow on a north facing 20 degree slope at 3600 ft.

The snow pack in this area is more complex than what has been observing in Turnagain. 10-15 cm of pow sits on top of a series of pencil/knife hard melt freeze crusts sandwiching facet layers. The bottom of the pack has a stout 15 cm crust sitting on dry facets.
