Observation: Other Regions

Toured on skis up motorized pathway to rolling area just above cabin. At about 500′ the snow abruptly changed from wet “mashed potatoes” to dense powder. Up higher the snow become deeper (2’+) and progressively lighter. Across the valley to the South multiple natural loose slides were observed, many of which starting at the base of rocky outcroppings affected by todays sunshine. I would expect much of the same tomorrow and into the weekend. Also observed remnants of multiple larger slab avalanches on steeper slopes across the valley. Once the obvious natural shedding has subsided, I would expect the human/machine triggered risk to persist into the weekend. With all of the new snow, sticking to lower angle slopes will be important in this area.
