Observation: Chugach State Park

Location: Little O’Malley

Route & General Observations

Toured from Glen Alps to top of Skier’s Gully in dense ice fog. No red flags were observed. There was 9-12in of right side up powder above crust in sheltered areas, and a meager besprinkling elsewhere. Dug a pit @ 2900’ on sheltered W aspect of gully:
HS: 140cm. ECTX.
Did not find facets around the January crust. An older crust 85cm from surface had partially rounded facets underneath. Depth hoar was noticeably smaller and denser than previously observed, but still weak.
