It was blowing 15-20 gusts at the top today, and there seemed to be a good deal
of snow being moved around up there, along with what was falling. Came across a
number of wind slabs high up, nothing deeper than 3 inches. Similarly deep
slabs were often below that. Saw cracking on occasion, but it was always
contained to the upper most unconsolidated wind layer, and nothing longer than
18 inches. On the way out, we saw that something moved on the western
road-facing aspect. Visibility was poor though, so whether it was a slab or
just some snow shedding off rocks, we couldn’t tell. It looked fresh, though
probably less than 50 feet wide.
