Avalanche: Chugach State Park

Location: Jill's Hill (McHugh Peak area)

Route & General Observations

Toured from my neighbor’s house to the McHugh Peak area, making several runs off the west side of McHugh peak and ridge. As we approached Jill’s Hill, we saw the avalanche (see attached photos) on the north side of Jill’s ridge which started at the top of the ridge and ran to the gully below. My neighbor said this avalanche occured during the wind event the previous weekend. The crown did not appear to be fresh and the debris was covered with new snow.
