Route & General Observations

Route from Hiland road up NW facing ridge line toward Harp Mountain. Previous wind loading on North aspects and North facing cornices were observed.

Recent avalanche debris was visible on East facing aspects on other side of valley.

Weather

Approximately 4 inches of new snow. Low/no wind. Temperature 5 degrees and sunny.

4 inches of new snow.

Snowpack

Compression test resulted in a hairline fracture after 23 taps (3 full arm). Depth of fracture was 23cm below surface. Layer failed at 30 taps but remained in place (Q3). Four finger hardness (soft) layer observed at 20cm and ground level (105cm). See photo. Total depth was 110cm.
