Avalanche Details

A party of 2 triggered a soft slab avalanche while boot packing to the top of the ridge. Skier 2 triggered the slide a couple of steps before reaching the top. Neither rider was caught or carried, it broke at boot. Riders identified a slab layer of new/wind loaded snow on the way up, and depth of the slab varied from 6 inches to 20 inches. Flat light made it challenging to assess wind loading across the terrain.
