Observation: Turnagain

We travelled to the top of treeline. We didn’t see any groups continuing any further on Eddies that day. Low visibility, so it was difficult to distinguish any recent avalanche activity on the major face above us. Signs of cross-loading at ~1200-1500′ with pockets of soft to hard snow, about 4-6″ deep with hand shear tests resulting accordingly; hard pockets resulted in pretty clean shear (Q2), and tests in the softer areas resulted in breaking (Q3). We skied into the NW forested area which presented less wind-impacted snow and skinned back up to ski the more variable lower W aspect before connecting to the trail out.
