Route & General Observations

skinned to 2700′ from parking at north side of lower summit lake. No red flags witnessed. we found the buried surface hoar and depth hoar layers that proved reactive in our tests.

Cold and clear calm. Temps ranged from -4 in morning to 14 in the afternoon.

Dug several pits at 2700' on east aspect in Colorado trees on 27 degree slope.Height of snow was 125cm, we found buried surface hoar 35cm down and a 60cm thick layer of depth hoar. Our results were CTM SC X3 on buried surface hoar layer, CTE SC X2 on depth hoar. Both layers showed propagation potential our ECT results were ECTP medium X2 on buried surface hoar and 1 ECTP medium on depth hoar and 1 ECTP hard on depth hoar.
