Observation: Turnagain

Location: Center Ridge

Route & General Observations

Toured up Center Ridge for a mellow day, found 1 1/2 – 2 feet of fresh snow.
Signs of instability included whoomphing and obvious shooting cracks. As we
approached our first significant uphill section on a SE aspect, we remotely
triggered a small avalanche measuring 1 1/2 – 2 ft deep by 30 ft wide. We
investigated the slide, and found the new snow on top of a 2 inch suncrust (SE
aspect, 1500ft). Compression Tests slid on isolation. We continued up the
ridge and remotely triggered several other small avalanches, one of which was
around 100 yards away, showing stored energy and high propagation propensity.
