Avalanche: Turnagain, Summit
Location: Butch Mt, Moose Mt and Super Bowl
Very large natural avalanche seen on West aspect of Butch. It looked to have released on the ground and ran to the lake below
Observer Comments
This was the first recent avalanche observed on Tuesday, but may have occurred sometime in the last two days due to recent heavy rain. As the day continued we also observed several natural avalanches while hiking on the Ptarmigan Lake trail. Upon the drive home we also observed a new avalanche on West face of Moose Mountain. As we drove through Turnagain Pass that evening we also noticed a recent large slab also releasing on the ground on Super Bowl, the terrain between Magnum and Cornbiscuit. Sorry didn't get a photo of that one, but the crown was likely 5' deep and wrapped into the Northern terrain of Cornbiscuit.
