Below are several great photos sent in to us of the Big League area East of Alyeska Ski Resort.
FORECASTER NOTE:
We do not have details as to when these avalanches slid. Possibly toward the tail end of the last storm on Jan. 15. We do know they are in the high elevation band above 3,500′ – releasing closer to 4000′ on Westerly (leeward) aspects. This zone received snow during the Jan 14/15 storm while rain fell from 2,500′ and below. You can see the wet nature of the debris as the suspected dry avalanche in photos 2 and 3 ran into the moist/wet snow at the lower elevations.
