Route & General Observations

Skied north aspect of Grandaddy. Couloir had been skied at least 4 times
yesterday and tracks were filled in by windblown snow – but there was not (yet)
enough wind loading to build a wind slab at the top of the run. Sluff was
pretty much non existent. Skied NW aspect of Pastoral and found wonderful snow
top to bottom. Sluff at the rollover was heavy but manageable. Then skied
Mistress and found wonderful snow up high but a soft slab (maybe 5 inches deep)
2/3 of the way down. Second skier triggered the soft slab and it popped about
25′ wide and slid approximately 200′. Not deep enough for a burial but enough
to knock someone over. Constant wind all day and if it keeps up overnight wind
slab will be a problem.
