Observation: Chugach State Park
Location: O'Malley
North face of O’Malley. 9 inches of creamy new snow above 4,000 ft. Extensive drifting of storm snow with drifts up to three feet deep. Boot penetration with verts up to 2 ft. Storm snow seemed well bonded and did not respond to repeated ski cuts, no cracking or whompfing. Good coverage. Very windy. Constant natural point releases. Recent roller balls on north facing terrain up to 4k.
